Plum Juice
Biography
A plum or gage is a stone fruit tree in the genus Prunus, subgenus Prunus. The juice of plums tastes is quite sweetly sour and mildly acidic tasting.
Nutritional Analysis
Plum juice is a good source of the vitamins C, A and B2, whilst being rich in the mineral potassium.
Plums have high content of unique phytonutrients called neochlorogenic and chlorogenic acid. These substances found in plum and prune are classified as phenols, and their function as antioxidants has been well-documented.
Phenolic compounds in prunes had been found to inhibit human LDL oxidation in vitro, and thus might serve as preventive agents against chronic diseases, such as heart disease and cancer.
