Information
St John's wort (hypericum) is a short, yellow-flowering, wild-growing plant. It has been used for centuries as a medicinal herb.
Traditionally st john's wort was used in the treatment of depression, nerve pain, anxiety/nervousness, bruises, burns, hypothyroidism, controlling stress, protecting bone marrow and intestinal mucosa from x-ray damage, shingles, joint pain, cold sores and herpes virus and sleep disorders.

Side Effects/Precautions
The most common side-effects are dry mouth, dizziness, gut symptoms and tiredness. St john's wort can cause heightened sun sensitivity especially in light sensitive people.
Should not be used by those who take prescription anti-depressants or any medication that interacts with MAO inhibitors.
Should not be used whilst pregnant or breastfeeding.
